TOUCHING TREE SKIN

During my research towards vegetable leather tanning, I got interested in the notion of the tree bark being the skin of the tree.

Where in my leather-tanning practise I use dead skin and dead bark to materialize a story about life. With this work I do an attempt to experience living bark in contact with my living skin.

How does the contact between my own skin and the tree’s skin take form? Can I materialize this interaction?

I started looking closely at tree skins, touching the bark, rubbing it, making imprints. Experiencing that every tree skin and every interaction with it, is unique!
